Christmas Carol Megaways Slot

Based on the famous festive novel of the same name by Charles Dickens, the Christmas Carol Megaways slot takes the iconic story and adapts it into casino form, thanks to the inventive development studio Pragmatic Play. Released just before Christmas in November 2020, this is one of their many Megaways slots that fuse distinctive thematics with changing playgrid mechanics. Besides the holiday-inspired graphics, the Christmas Carol Megaways slot also comes with a handful of free-spin modes and multipliers that add even more layers to the already dynamic blueprint.

Christmas Carol Megaways Game Background

A frosted frame topped with burning candles borders the 6 reels in the Christmas Carol Megaways slot; however, this does not produce a consistent number of rows per spin, unlike many online UK slots. Instead, the number of symbols can range between 2 and 7 per column, causing the payline count to fluctuate up to 200,704. A counter in the upper right of the screen keeps track of how many paylines are active in each spin, while an extra row 4 segments wide sits to its left, aligned above the central reels.

Taking a look at the backdrop of the Christmas Carol Megaways slot, it displays a snow-filled Victorian street, with townhouses sitting on either side of the cobbled road. A couple of lampposts shine onto the dark surroundings, while snowflakes fall from above throughout gameplay. An atmospheric soundtrack with jingles spliced in can be heard throughout Christmas Carol Megaways, with such details setting this release apart from other festive creations, such as Team Santa Power Combo and Starlight Christmas.

Christmas Carol Megaways Slot Symbols

Using traditional cursive fonts with frosted textures, the lower-value symbols in Christmas Carol Megaways depict some card royals inspired by live casino games like Blackjack. On the contrary, the higher-valued symbols are characters from Dickens’ famous novel, reinforcing the festive theme even further if they happen to land.

Lower Value Symbols:

• 10

• Jack (J)

• Queen (Q)

• King (K)

• Ace (A)

Medium Value Symbols:

• Tiny Tim

• Jacob Marley

Higher Value Symbols:

• Ghost of Christmas Past

• Ghost of Christmas Present

• Ghost of Christmas Future

Ebenezer Scrooge, the protagonist of the story this Christmas Carol Megaways slot is based on, also appears in the form of a bonus symbol, acting as the wild. As for the other bonus symbols, there is only one of these, with this being a golden pocket watch scatter that glows brightly.

Christmas Carol Megaways Bonus Features

A mechanic referred to as the ‘Tumble Feature’ is active throughout the entirety of gameplay, with this being the cascading system in this Christmas Carol Megaways slot. If any combinations are formed across the reels randomly, the symbols that are part of them disappear into a puff of snow, before the gaps they leave behind are filled again by new symbols.

Only able to appear on reels 2-6, including across the extra row above the playtable, Ebeneezer Scrooge is the wild symbol and has substituting abilities in the Christmas Carol Megaways slot. This means that it could take the place of other character and card symbols across the playtable if it lands, potentially filling in gaps across the constantly changing number of paylines.

The last of the bonuses in Christmas Carol Megaways is the free spins feature, and this could be triggered if 4, 5, or 6 of the golden pocket watch scatters land simultaneously. Depending on the number of triggering scatters, though, players could be presented with the following options to choose from:

• 4 Triggering Scatters: Players could choose from 15, 10, or 5 free spins that come with 1x, 5x, or 10x starting multipliers, respectively.

• 5 Triggering Scatters: Players could choose from 19, 14, or 9 free spins that come with 1x, 5x, or 10x starting multipliers, respectively.

• 6 Triggering Scatters: Players could choose from 23, 18, or 13 free spins that come with 1x, 5x, or 10x starting multipliers, respectively.

Regardless of the free spin mode that may be chosen, there is an additional modifier that remains constant across all of these Christmas Carol Megaways bonus rounds. For any ‘Tumbles’ that might occur, this can increase the persistent multiplier by +1 each time, just like in Fluffy Favourites Megaways.

Christmas Carol Megaways Mobile Play

Pragmatic Play has optimised the Christmas Carol Megaways slot for smartphones, desktop computers, laptops, and tablets, too, thanks to their integration of the HTML5 framework. As long as players are connected to the internet, the festive visuals and dynamic gameplay can adapt seamlessly to different screen sizes. No quality is lost whatsoever, either, with the same adaptability being seen in a majority of the developer’s other UK casino games, too,
